Fiat Repair in Massachusetts

Post by chrisjs »

My Spider has been in the local shop for several weeks. They are unable to diagnose the cause of its very high speed idle, beyond thinking it is an unidentified vacuum leak. Time to look for a new shop that hopefully can figure this out. Car needs to be towed because it idles too fast to drive/put in gear. Does anybody have a recommendation for repair shop in southeast Massachusetts or the Cape Cod area?

what year is it ? i have a 1979 carb model that the previous owner actually put a small breather element on one of the main Vacuum ports coming off the back of the intake near the firewall. it caused me to have a very high idle. i capped it off which dropped the idle tremendously to the point that i had to turn up the idle screw to keep it running. it has been running great since (uses a lot less gas too!) give that a shot before you pay somebody else to look at it. most of todays mechanics dont have a clue unless their computer can spit out the problem code. old time mechanics are like quality cabinet makers! scarce as hens teeth! :(

One of the best Fiat techs is Danny O'Donnel in Connecticut. 860-871-1990.

Check the post regarding the same issue and the butterfly being held open by a screw.
