I busted my vee belt last night and almost burnt my passenger when all sorts of fluids started gushing into the passenger compartment floor.
What size belt should I buy
I drive a 1977 1800 Spider with the alternator on the drivers side.
Thanks

Re: vee belt sizes
dont get the connection. breaking a v-belt shouldnt dump any fluids. if you still have the belt, take it to the parts store and they can match you up.
Re: vee belt sizes
Ditto to azruss.
Breaking a alternator / waterpump belt is just as likely to cause the back left wheel to fall off as dump fluids into passenger compartment.
UNLESS you kept going and boiled the car ? and have wrong or faulty pressure cap and weakest point in the system was in your heater/hoses and they burst ?????????? If so, you need more than a new belt .

I replaced the belt but coolant is still pouring into the passenger compartment floor.
I never drove the car into the red zone, the temp always stayed between the midpoint and the red zone, it was running hot but I wouldn't say nuclear weapon hot.
What could I have broken?

Re: vee belt sizes
hopefully its just the lines, the heater works really well, blows strong and hot.
Re: vee belt sizes
The core usually has a more gradual demise. Starts with a small leak that gets worse.

ouch, well I guess I better start by tearing down he interior to see where the leak is coming from.

Look passenger side, front, up fairly high, the 2 heater tubes/hoses come through the firwall to the heater box. You can locate where they come through by looking in the engine compartment. Good luck, hopefully just a bad hose or heater valve.
