My First Fiat, 1981 spider 2000 PF
My First Fiat, 1981 spider 2000 PF
I just bought this car on EBay. Amazingly, I was the only bidder.... The car was just listed at an opening bid of $1500. So I said to my self "What the hell, I always wanted one of these. My buddy had an 81 and NEVER had a problem with his." Seriously! He really never had to have Tony fix it. So I bid on it. $1500. To my surprise... No one even bid or looked at it. I thought to myself, "Really? NO ONE wants this car?" These are getting quite rare and hard to find one that hasn't been up north and rusted out below. Doesn't run, apparently there is no fuel flow past the cold start valve. Humm... AFM not turning the fuel pump on? Easy fix? (no surprise, it sat up for a long time in a garage by this guys mother in law. No, seriously!) The guy is a Pastor and is selling the car for the elderly aunt. I know, hard to believe. But, it lived all it's life in Texas from Italy. From the pictures it looks like no rust, good paint and only a few paint chips on the hood and fender. One missing side emblem on the right side front fender. And of course, it's red with black int. Amazingly the seats are not ripped. The dash has the usual crack in the center between the defrost vents but that is it. It also has the tan top and bonnet. Strange for a black int. Looks like it's in great shape. So I have to spend a few hundred in gas and a U-Haul car carrier to get it from Durant, Oklahoma to River Ridge. I figure that I will save that in restoration cost from the lack of rust. Any input from you folks is always accepted with joy and reverence.
