Early "FLAT" Hood

Post by vespistiSF »

I have a rust free flat hood I'd like to sell. In excellent shape. I am in the SF Bay Area, I'm asking $350 or best. Local Pick Up only.

Break meaning part out? I feel early cars need to be saved when ever possible.

They were $800 when you could buy them new. That was...around 1986 the last time you could find one. So $376 for a good used one is a steal.

yup, I was meaning part out.... Im a British Expat, back in the UK we would say we were breaking the car, instead of saying we are parting it out like here.

I have one to sell and i would have to give it away. There is little demand for early hoods or other parts from early cars.
You would have to find someone who restoring an early spider to original and they are few and far between.

I sold a very solid one that just had a tiny dent on the very front for $325 a few months ago. The buyer was very happy to have found a good one.
They are around, but most are dented and/or stress cracked. It is hard to find a good one.

Where are you located? I can't imagine it would be hard to sell. Hard to ship? Yeah, but not hard to find someone looking for one.

I am in the toronto canada area. I spoke to a guy who has been parting spiders for a long time. He said 10 yrs ago parts sold, there was a demand but not anymore. I see people listing parts, they strip a car and ask 300 a hood etc., then 200 then next fall or spring 125. For every one restoration there seems to be 5 cars being parted out. Iguess it depends on the area. I could not sell a good door or hood for $50 locally. Kids these days don't know how to turn a screw driver if they grew up in a big city. How many people on this forum are under 40?
