I would wager that if it were a proper, documented CSA, and the seller were patient, the price would be close, even in the US.

This could be the reason why hundreds of 124 Spiders were cheaply snapped up in the 80's and 90's by keen o/s buyers and exported to the UK and Australia.

The Spider fetches a decent price over here but I must admit the majority have since been restored, which is a good thing for the overall value of them.

There are rare body Fiats worth that here, but it is rare for any 124 body open car sell for half that in the States. I suppose if there is plenty of paperwork provenance with the Abarth build, that makes a huge difference, but here in the States, 124s generally are treated like the "Rodney Dangerfield" of classics.

Come to think of it, I believe the only time I EVER saw one on and automotive TV show was on "Top Gear" or "Wheeler Dealers," both out of the U.K.
Dantye; if you had an extremely-rare, well represented 124, such as this, then you could ask that amount in the states too.
This is not a "nice 124". Nor is it somebody's Abarth Replica / reproduction.

real deal.
And as Larry Miller used to say of the Cobras: "it either was there, or it wasn't."
that is what is commanding the $$... not the 124 relationship.

Most of us are clever enough to have insurance appraisals, therefore it is definitely worth more than shit, even if the cash is not (yet) in the hand. I suppose a house is worth nothing until it is sold?

I appreciate the car has been posted here, no matter what price it was listed for.

Insurance appraisals are a decent price guide which are also a little more calculated than our opinions.
The market place will have the final say in the matter anyway.

I don't think our friends from Switzerland (Redline) and Australia (FI8Spider) have figured-out fiat218's usual pattern of $h!T-stirring yet.

The car looks pristine and the price is maybe 10% higher than other cars in similar condition I've seen in Europe but everything depends of the state of the vehicle.
Is it possible to know the VIN ? is it registered at the RARI http://www.fiat124abarth.de/register.uk.htm ?

Hello ABC man,

Yes it is registered with Sebastian at RARI.

The Eurozone crisis and resultant change in exchange rate mean that it is now more expensive for a continental buyer than it would have been six to eight months ago.

Cheers,

Ross.

ps - VIN is available at RARI, do you have access?
