thanks focodave!

spidermatt:
no heater. we don't need no stinkin' heater. Or you can do the way several others have done and put pull-knobs (like your choke knob) under the dash.
emergency flasher is that red button on the dash, between the two covered switches.
don't need to cig lighter.
don't need no interior light.

I was finally able to get my carpet done thanks to a rain day.

Looks great Jay, good job! :D

Glad the patterns worked out for you. How was the fit, any adjustments needed?
Did you save the patterns to use again or be passed on?
I found the ones I used while cleaning the garage this week so I have them put up safer for future use.

templates are stored in the Fiat garage for future use and loaner program

I would have liked to purchased thicker carpet (like the original) perhaps black or beige for next time however, it would have been even worse to cut :?

Just a little tweak here and there.

My garage is so small I don't have the space to lose/misplace anything

Lowes must carry the same stuff as Home Depot where I got mine. It was easy to cut with scissors and I like the way it turned out. The only thing I have noticed is that there is a wear spot where my heel scrubs the carpet just below the rubber. Looks like I will need to go with a set of full floor mats.

Thanks Jay for the suggestion. I live in the US (Oregon) and it doesn't look like Canadian Tire ships. I will keep looking.

Sears, Wal*Mart etc they should all have the same. They are heavy and do not move, deep for any possible water or muck etc

I was all set to go to Lowes and buy some carpet, but then I got a sweet deal on original '74 red corn roll (?) carpets. Needs a serious cleaning in the usual areas, but the parts that are clean are great.

Question: anyone ever use self tapping screws to lay down the carpet?

Thanks.

the problem with the screws is if it goes thru the floor to the underside of the car water will wick up and .. well thats a problem..... if you got underneath and sealed them.... also the screw will pull the carpet down in just that one spot... will look sorta poka dotted if you know what i mean.... and then there is the chance the screw will grab a thread in the carpet and create a run... like in an old sweater....

test fit... some 3m adhesive spray and put er down.... holds tight enough for what you need and not too tight if you have to pull it up for say running speaker wires or some type of repair ..... then spray it again and put it back.... of course just my opinion...... i payed closer attention to the areas where my feet go .. making sure it was good and stuck along the edges... gravity and trim will take care of everything else......

+1 to 3m spray. It will hold just fine.
