Re: Dixie FiatFest - If you have it they will come--NOT
I understand, last fall I joined our local Fiat club and was excited to meet & greet with other people who shared this passion. I was all ready to participate as much as possible by attending or volunteering etc. I had heard all this talk of an event held in Montreal called Fiat Breakout and that we were looking for a big representation to go down and show our support. This was a mere 2 hr drive on a gorgeous weekend day for the day. Well sadly only 3 cars showed up including myself The silver lining is that one of us went home with a best in class award (Fiat Dino) All in all I believe that any event held is great however, to expect other people to do what we would do is un realistic ( I learnt the hard way) I am a big beliver in getting a form of commitment and the mighty $ seems to work best as most Fiat owners need them for our cars and are resistent to part with it unless they are serious/passionate LOL

There's no question that it takes perseverance to get an event or a club sustainable. Just look at the Jersey guys; from zero to regular stuff in only a year or two. DC Fiats has a membership of over 200; all local, all owners. Yet we only get 10-30 cars for any event, even those featuring adult beverages. So you need a big pool of folks and regular correspondence to ensure a decent turnout.

Ahhh yes COMMUNICATION the great equalizer. I am glad that in this day and age we have so many different forms of communication yet some people just don't get it

Denise, there is no fault of yours that the Fiatfest didnt fly this year.It is the most fun event on any schedule, for people that want to drive their cars and not just admire them in the garage. It is as well planned and put together as FFO,and I have been on the organizing commitee of several of those.

most events like this are successful because of the passion of one person. Hopefully Denise will decide to continue on. I would be willing to take the reins if we moved it to phoenix. That way I could guaranty that Denise wont be saddled with the worst turnout. I would be confident in predicting a zero turnout since even i'm not crazy enough to take a convertable out in this heat.

Ah... but if Denise would bring Dixie FiatFest to Phoenix (or Tucson!) in March or October I would definitely attend! I may even brave the crowds if it were held in late January / early February in Scottsdale when Barrett-Jackson takes over the town!

It sounds like you guys need to get together and have your own Southwest event! Somehow,Dixie Fiatfest doesnt sound right for Arizona All kidding aside,we need these regional events. This is where large clubs like PCA(Porsche Club) have an advantage .They have regional events all over the U.S. and Canada. We put on the national convention,FFO,but it is never accesible for everyone. Its a great event, but not easy for everyone to attend.

Maybe that's the secret out here?
Maybe we need a "Four-Corners-Area" event, rather than a "Rocky Mountain" event.
Looks like there's some of y'all in AZ, I know there's several of ya in CO, there's a couple of us in UT. hmmm... that makes 6 of us.... and if HALF of us show up.....
ok. I just gave-up again.

I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
