1984 Pininfarina Azzura

Post by MYFIAT »

Hi I joined the forum in 2009 I think and I was working in Saudi Arabia, I sold my 1977 spider (Australia) and since then I have moved to sunny Florida. I am going to have a look at a 1984 Pininfarina Azzura spider tonight and would like to know from the forum what they think of the 84 model and what should I be looking out for. It has some rust but the owner says it is not terminal.

Scott,

Where are you in Florida? I am in Apopka. Is this the Azzura on craigslist locally for $1800?

No...just saw it on craigslist. Beware of a low price if its in as good condition as the guy states. Unless, you are buying for the sake of rebuilding.

I am not sure of parts availability for the Azzura versus a Spider 2000.

Good luck!

That's awfully cheap for an 84 in supposedly good shape? :? I hope for your sake it's real and there are no Title problems or something of that nature. If the mechanics are as they say it's obviously worth the money however, I am always leery of people when they say so many things are "Perfect" on a car almost 30 years old? I'm from the Government I'm here to help you, honest I'll respect you in the morning etc.......

If it drives well and does not have tower or frame rust or windscreen rust then I would say it's a good candidate to start a restore with. I hope for you it is!! we need more Spiders cruising Florida, we must beat California!!!

That's great man, if it just needs a paint job the hard work is over. You have till Nove 4th to get ready for the Orlando meetup.

What Orlando meetup?

Scott, you can use most Spider 2000 parts for your Azzura. The interior is a bit different; especially the dash, upper console and rear parcel shelf.

Welcome to the '84 party! No prob with parts: the vendors have what will be needed.

Gunsmith, what do you mean by "windscreen rust?"

Sometimes there will be rust around the windshield frame and supports and it's a pain to rip out and replace. I've seen some pretty poor attempts at repair and it can cost a lot to fix some one else's screw up as we have all learned.
