With the very rare perfect weather here in Portland Ive lost patience for waiting on the single plane manifold so im installing the DFEV on my stock dual plane. I bought the EMPI linkage kit from Mark and the ball joint piece seems like it will work but the rod connector between the bellcrank and the carb lever is too long. I went to the hardware store and found a length of threaded rod which I will cut to fit. My question is should I eliminate the "slop" from both the cable (at the firewall) and the carb linkage components? Should everything be "tight" or is a certain amount of play necessary. Im not sure how this all translates to the accelerator pedal, it seems like less slop would make it all feel more responsive...
any thoughts?
thanks
George

you need some play in the cable since the engine will move some on the mounts. Have someone hold the throttle to the floor or use a stick to hold it down to make sure you have full throttle opening
