Re: who's got a fast fiat?
those turbos are sweet cars. you could squeeze out more power easily with that set up im sure. i have a 95 turbo eclipse, very easy to modify for more power.
Re: who's got a fast fiat?
I just thought I'd jump in here, because I think there is a different approach to the problem of getting smoked by minivans. The answer is quite simple. Don't race minivans. Cool people don't race light to light. They let everyone else floor it with engines roaring, and then they just pull away casually with look of calm and inner peace. If someone calls you out just say "I don't race my baby, it's far too valuable." or the even better semi-burn response of "HA!"

Re: who's got a fast fiat?
I concur. I like to tell people that my car only "looks" fast... That being said, I'd like to see a mini-van try to do 100kph on a twisty winding country road. Heck, with the top down 50 feels like 70 anyway!

Remember that the only reason those people want to race you is because they're jealous. They're trying to prove to themselves that they made the correct decision in choosing a K-car platform Caravan (the freudian dowdy schoolmarm) over a beautiful exotic italian roadster (the freudian stripper).
I never drive fast or race on the streets, but I love to wind it up on the freeway. I've had my '78 up to 112 on the way to Las Vegas. I have a stock 1800 with electronic ignition, cat test pipe and a weber 32/36 ADFA. People in Los Angeles usually drive about 80mph on the freeway if traffic allows, and the larger carb gives me much more power in the higher rpms. Also, we have some really great freeways (qualifier: only late at night on the portions that don't need major renovation). The 110 Pasadena was the first freeway in the US, and it's awesome to drive from Downtown L.A. to Pasadena and back in the wee hours of the morning. It's curvy to say the least.

Hollywood is right on the button. Spiders are for "cruisin".
If you really want to be FAST, better off to buy a Ferarri or Lambourgini. Then you just sit at the lights, sneaking forward, waiting for the change, then watch them thrash their beasts as the lights change and listen for the bang !

Re: who's got a fast fiat?
there a whole lot more fun when you blast them em and down windy roads. my car had a 1438 when i got it. it was great for cruising, but it got boring after a while, its nice to know you have a little something under the hood, if just for kicks.

Have you got any dyno runs to show us for your turbo? It would be interesting to see!
