Is the dizzy down low on the driver side, not up by the head. If so, then you have a 1438

Yes I know that I have a 1438" I was just wondering if there was the right engine in this or does it not make a differnce, 1438 in a 69. , what I am trying to say , does It have numbers on the engine to match the car, or does it not matter s long as there is a 1438 in a 69' for it to stay original

The only way you'd know if your engine was original to the car would be if you had the original build sheet. I've seen copies of original window stickers but never a build sheet. Did Fiat even supply them back in the day? IDK. The collectors of American cars, especially muscle cars prize total originality and having a car that's kept with it's numbers matching can enhance the value. My brother has a 72 Vette that's got all the original parts but the engine is in the crate that his replacement engine came in. There's value there, I just don't think that it would make any difference with our cars, they're not selling for 50,000 to $100,000 in totally original condition.

Thats why I said "original" motor. It was my first spider so I didnt know any better. I wasnt until I checked the numbers against the chart that I found it was a 1608. A 1972 if I recall correctly.

Oh ok, I thought you meant an earlier car had a 1608. My first car in high school was a 71 with a 1608.

There are no "matching numbers" to match the drivetrain to the car itself.
1972 124 Spider (Don)
1971 124 Spider (Juan)
1986 Bertone X19 (Blue)
1978 124 Spider Lemons racer
1974 X19 SCCA racer (Paul)
2012 500 Prima Edizione #19 (Mini Rossa)
Ever changing count of parts cars....It's a disease!
