what would make one 2.0 rev high as in 7 grand in 4th and another car of mine does not rev that high, and there both 2.0
so what makes that to be a difference? cams/ heads? what

I'm confused....if your tach is accurate or not 7000 is waaay past where these engines are designed to go as Mark said. Redline on a 1756 is 6500 and on a 2000 it is 6000. While you may have an engine that is currently revving this high, it is unlikely to for very long and you are so far past the power band at that point....you are going slower than if you shifted. The 2000 motor is flinging a lot more weight around than say a 1608...so yes a 1608 is MUCH happier at higher revs.

Since you have two of these, just switch the tach's and see what happens..

if i'm reading this right, you have two 2L car, one can pull 7k in 4th and the other cant. sounds like one doesnt have the power. maybe it has a different rear end.

I'm just guessing that there a 2L in the 79 I will get the numbers and be accurate
