Removing bezels

Post by 74ausfiat »

is there a smart way to remove the bezels around my tach, speedometer etc. without hurting the wood?

i guess just a glue solvent and a thin flat head screwdriver?

thanks!!

you need to remove the gage panel and remove the tach from the panel. it is held to the wood with 3 screws. once the tach is out, you can carefully pry open the crimp on the bezel.

you really dont need to remove the entire cluster. with some patience you can pull the panel out enough to get your fingers in there and undo the 2 screws and unplug it.

Well I'm going to be resurfacing the whole wood panel . Or replacing it entirely so I gotta get those bad boys off of it

Fastest quickest way I found was to remove the top of the steering column cover, 4 screws on bottom side of column cover. Then you should be able to pull the gauges toward yourself and remove the one nut that holds the gas gauge in place. With that gauge removed you will be able to remove your odometer cable and then the 2 main plugs for the front gauge. just gently pull the whole thing toward yourself and slide it out. Hope this helps just finished re doing my front console.
