It's not uncommon to see parts like this with Italian cars of 60's through 80's. A lot of the Italian car companies sourced parts from the same manufacturer. Weber carbs, Veglia gauges, Marelli Magnetti ignition and electricals, etc. etc.

A buddy of mine has a first edition Pantera. It uses the same door wedges, door striker and recievers, same dash rheostat and wiper speed switches as the Fiat spider. A few other parts are the same too.

The later style Fiat spider flush door handles (Like the car at the top of the screen) are the same as Alfa Romeo.

I think there are a few tail light or turn lights that the 850 spider uses that are the same as Ferraris. If you search ebay you will see two drastically different prices for the same part.

Just look at those turn signals on the Ferrari, they could be the same as the early Fiat spiders.

4 years ago, I was having one of those "crises", where I really needed a Ferrari. I mean, really needed a Ferrari. So my wife and I were out looking at several cars within a 6 hour radius of me, that were within the cash-budget at the time.

(First, let me say that the $30k Ferrari is a myth. it doesn't exist. Every Ferrari int he price range is JUNK, and needs at least $20k poured back into it)

So the last one we looked at was a '78 308 GTB. Like the others; it was junk. But as I sat in it, reviewing everything it was going to need, I commented to my wife that it was like sitting in one of my old Fiats. All the switchgear, gauges, bezels, air vents, etc etc etc... it all felt like a Fiat.
So she of course said "then why don't we go get you another Fiat?"
And that's how I came to own the current car.
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!

Yeah, that's kinda my point. Of course there is plenty of parts sharing, our clocks too for example, but it just struck a chord with me to think that I'm shifting my little 4 figure Spider with the same shift knob as the one in my dream 60's 12 cylinder Ferrari.

That's why my favorite is a Fiat Dino Spider, and not a Ferrari.

Why pay for and drive a Ferrari with Fiat parts, when you can drive a semi-affordable Fiat with a Ferrari engine?
