HELP WITH CAMSHAFT IDENTIFICATION
i have a set of PBS cams, on the back the intake has s2, and the exhaust has s1, and a set of international billets with 87 stamped into them. i think the international billets are 40-80 or 42-82, i just dont know which, i have all 3 grinds they used to sell. and the larger set of billets i have of theirs is still in a motor. if anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated

I would contact the manufacturers or distributors. Alternatively, post on Mirafiori.com, someone there will know.

pbs is no longer in business as i belive, and pitatori has not made fiat cams in years

pittatore grind # 87 is 42/82 camshaft, the ones i have are 20 years old bought from IAP, They are billet, not cast blanks. thanks for those who pm'd me with information. still looking for pbs info

I will try to find my info on PBS cams i used there billet and regrinds in the past on the pittatore cams if you can measure
the lift ill be able to tell you the duration of those cams.

OK I couldn't find PBS sheet it must of been tossed any how if I remember correctly S2 Cams were 40-80s
and S1 were close to 40-80 with a little less duration. It's been a long time but i hope this helps.
Specs on the pitatori Cams
42-82 82-42 110° 110° .014" .014" 304° 260° 84° 10.60

Type Timing @ 0 deg Duration @ 0 deg Lift @ 0 deg Running Clearance
S 2 30-70 280 .380" .017" Intake
70-30 280 .380" .019" exhaust
There is no listing for a S1 but there is for a Z1
Z1 50-96 320 .428" .010" intake
96-50 320 .428" .012" exhaust
These were from the table on the old PBS website for the 124/131 series engines
I hope this will enable you to check your cams. Sorry about the spacing but the format will not work.

Z1 ( i believe this is for a X1/9-128 Series ) is a different cam they had s1 and s2 these units were the first 2
cams on the list of profiles when they offered cams for TC fiats.

Sorry but I believe you are confused. PBS produced two charts for their cam data 1) For the X1/9 128 engine series and
2) The one for the 124 series engines. I copied the chart for the 124 as that is all I have. I copied it last year before they took it down.
As I remember I think the 128 series had a S1 but the 124 series does not.
I have not been able to copy it to this message ( It is a JPG file). Send me your email via PM and I send it as an attachment.

They did have a S1 and S2 along with 6 or 7 other profiles when i started dealing with them years ago but
since have moved on from their cams to better profiles from other companies so I know I'm not confused

The chart I have shows a S2 which I had in my eariler e-mail. The first item on the chart is the stock specs not the S1.
If you look at the chart the items are listed by increasing performance. The Z1 is last and is considered full race with large duration, it has to have high compression and DCOE's. The S2 specs are very mild for stock engines. I do not think you would want a milder cam between S2 and the stock cam. If it is a S1 or Z1 on the cams can be easily verified with a total lift measurement. I suggested this option as S or Z can be miss-read. Until he measures the cam, the jury will be out. It would be nice if somebody else has a older copy. I only wish now that I had copied more of the info as there was a lot of valueable information that could have been passed on. The site is under construction and I hope they continue their work even though they have moved on. I talked to Paul a few years before his death and he said at the time that the Fiat 124 business was minscule to their 850 and X1/9 stuff. THey would only do the cam if they could also fit the cams to the head and adjust the valves. It is sad that we have lost these pioneers in hotrodding the Fiat 124 engines. They will be missed in our little vintage Fiat community.
By the way Guy Croft quotes 150 hp of a two liter with high compression and 45 mm Webers and the stock cam. I guess my point is that the cam sometimes should be the last thing changed.

didn't you read BEEKs post at the beginning ? he has S1 and S2 Cams from PBS, F1 Cams from PBS had large duration
and lift if my memory serves me well and i did more then read there list I purchased there parts many of them. Any

I found a set of old cams that are stamped SV 10. Then there is a 7 with one slash through it and an 8 with two slashes through it. Any idea of make or grind.?
