Am interested in putting belts with shoulder and lap straps in my 72. How do the later cars mount the shoulder belt?? Can I take belts out of a later car and make em work??
I keep hoping I'll see a later Spider in town so I can look, but haven't seem one all summer...

Re: Seat Belt question.....
the shoulder mounts are located on the rear bulkhead and come thru the back seat upholstery about waist high if you were sitting back there. It also has a locater on the seat next to the headrest.
Re: Seat Belt question.....
I bought three point belts from a forum member, the rear brackets were cut from a later model and welded in by John Erskine, and I bought a later model set of nice front seats with built in seat belt guide and rear seat back from later model with the built in seat belt slats. They are all now installed, look like factory originals, and I feel significantly safer - all for under $500.

Re: Seat Belt question.....
The back rest of the back seat has a notch in it on both sides for the seat belts to come through. Most people get a later model back rest that has these notches when they upgrade their belts.
I don't have a picture of it, sorry.
