A bothers me list for the Spider? Well...it bothers me when

1) people name their car
2) people remove the bumpers
3) people install a non-FIAT engine (because it never sees the road again)
4) panasports are installed
5) people two-tone the car
Given the large number of posts on removing them I thought I was the only one who didn't like the look of a Spider without bumpers! To me it looks like the car has a receding chin.

My joy at seeing this list is tempered, however, by the fact that I have Panasports on one of my Fiats!
6) ANSA twin tips
7) pininfarina referred to as panin ferrari
8) "is that a miata?"
9) "i used to be a FIAT mechanic, they're junk" - spoken by a man with few teeth
10) did i mention bumperless Spiders?
11) painted grilles

To each his/her own, really. If the car is running and YOU like it, so be it. Better than it rusting away or not being used. I need two good sets of tube bumpers anyway...

Brad,

I am with you on #6, those twin pipe ANSA's have no place on the spider.

Why not? I think it looks fine. And apparently so do all the other owners I saw at FFO who have them installed.

What really gets me is when some dork has got some rusty old peice of crap car and wants a fortune for it. Says it's vintage. Vintage my ars! Whatever - it's rusty, broke down and way, way overpriced. Why would I pay you 3K for a pile-O-crap when i can just go out and buy the same thing already fixed up for about the same price. Oh, and just because you see them listed for that much, do some research on HOW MUCH THEY ARE SELLING FOR - DOUSH!

Obvoiusly I am not referring to anyone here and I'm pretty sure you have all dealt with the type of person I am talking about once or twice in your time.

Ahhh, that feels so much better

I'm selling my 1992 BMW 325IS (128K on it - great condition everything works - no problems) and some dork wants to trade me a 1972 VW bug in peices for it. WHAT? let's see here, I give you a perfectly well operating machine with air bags, AC, antilock disc breaks, leather interior (un ripped), that you can hop in and drive accross the country in and you think it's worth the rusty bits in your back yard? WTF?

I didn't say they don't sell well, or appeal to people. Hell I even wasted money on one on my first Spider. Everyone makes mistakes. FFO is like a yearly conclave of cars that have been abused with aftermarket stuff.

The sad thing is you could, waaaaay back when, get a single tip performance exhaust, similar (if not exactly the same) as the single tip ANSA sold for the Alfa Spider. It actually fit, it didn't hang like a home-made muffler, and didn't make the car sound like the Taco Cabana truck coming to deliver food.

Funny you say that. My Ansa does none of those things. Maybe you've just seen a ton of poorly installed examples.

it bothers me when cup holders had become a 'hot ' issue on a car.
In a car you drive, a cup of coffee , an espresso, a cappucino or even an americano, you drink in a bar.
If you need some caffeine or adrenalin in a Fiat, use your right foot ( or for more adrenaline: try the 'hand trottle' on a busy road 8) )

Nah, it doesn't fit right. There is no way a twin tip fits correctly under the back end of your Spider unless you cut and flanged the opening. Otherwise you have a single pipe indentation with a dual pipe under it. And then the weight of the stupid thing is slowly but surely stressing the joint at your center pipe. It is leaking.

And one day the twin tip will disconnect from the car, and it will come into your house, and it will frighten you, your wife (or lover), and children (and/or pets).

No matter what you do

the ANSA

will

eventually

haunt

you.

Guys, guys, do what I did. Just run a streight pipe (bent to fit properly) from your exhaust manifold to the end of the car. Sounds great and it's really not as loud as you would think. Untill, you give her some gas. Then it's pretty loud but in a real cool way. 8)

Really, I had no idea that the pipe was not connected to the muffler untill I had it inspected. It's so quiet now.
