gas tank question

hi all, did they ever make plastic gas tanks for Spiders? i was speaking to a guy about a carb he was selling and he said he had some other parts including what he thought was 'plastic' fuel tank...

IF this is true is it a piece of garbage or were these made to lighten the cars/performance?...

might be plastic on the modern cars. dont know about an X. As far as i know, all the 124 series and 850 series all have metal tanks.

Nope. Metal from 1966-1985.5. Often half-covered in that undercoating dealer extra, which sealed in moisture and caused them to rust.
