I actually really like this show. especially when I just ignore the parts with mike, he's not my favorite. but Edd china is a genius. and usually they do really cool cars and stick to generally original style of the cars.

Yeah I saw that episode it was great, even if the guy reminds me of an even more bloated "Captain Kirk", the sound of that engine when he opens it up on the backcountry roads is awesome! I'd take that conundrum of having a Ferrari engine in a Fiat (or bertone) body any day!

HA HA - my birthday was a couple of days ago and my wife gave me that exact same black leather jacket with white stripes.
Great show by the way.

Re: Wheeler Dealers Show with Fiat Dino
I love these guys, sometimes watch them late at night when the house is quiet and I can't sleep, they run them all night on the Velocity channel here. I think their numbers are looney, we all know that it is next to impossible to make money restoring old cars in the manner they do, but what the hell it is very entertaining. I would love to see them do a Spider. Probably spend 10-12K and sell it for 5. <{:^)

I get a kick out of that show! One thing that I noticed when they do the cost of what the car "owes" them is that they never account for Ed's (or Paul - Ed's trusty helper) time. They typically only count materials and any time of a supplier if they have to outsource work, never Ed's time. I think Ed's time alone decimates any profit they make.Great video, great car but one grand of profit is a joke.
Regardless - I really enjoy the show!

Yeah, once they pay Ed and Paul, and amortize the significant cost of the shop, any real profit is long gone, but it is still a fun show, somewhat educational, and better than a lot of other stuff on TV.

It is a mini education on a lot of different cars. Where else do we get to look underneath so many different cars? Love the show.

I too like the show, but does anyone else notice that Ed often performs other work on the car which is apparent in the "after" shots, but never mentioned (let alone paid for ).

Yeah, my guess is that they feel they need to edit it down to fill an entertaining hour, but I think you are right. I particularly notice the extensive paint buffing that sometimes doesn't get mentioned. And I never see the cost for new tires?

Guys, you are missing the key ingredient to this $ making venture. Advertising dollars. Sure, they entertain you for an hour but get BIG MONEY in advertising dollars due to sindication. If you really want to get pickey, don't forget about the camera crue, sound crue, editing team, equipment rental, transportational costs, license, fees, other associated costs. And you better believe that those people selling their cars always agree to his price because they are getting some $ on the back end just to appear in the show. It's all a little dance to get you to buy crap you don't need. Like a Fiat DinoSunnySideUp wrote:They typically only count materials and any time of a supplier if they have to outsource work, never Ed's time. I know, I know - lighten up Francis
Re: Wheeler Dealers Show with Fiat Dino
I feel like I haven't really noticed much uncounted modifications. Tires makes sense on some of these, but a lot of them haven't needed tires. The majority of the cars were daily drivers or at least frequently driven.
And katsi, that's technically all true, but at least for me I was looking at the profit if you remove the idea of a tv show and look at it from 2 blokes buying and selling cars perspective. Since that's what the show tries to portray.
