what can i do to fix that, other then add bumpers, there must be another solution to make it a bumper car :)
against the law in minnesota/northdakota

what i am asking what would be consider a bumper? other then the original
I'm sure the MN and ND DMVs have a web site you can easily find with a quick search. Somewhere on those sites you may be able to find out what the bumper requirements are, if there are any. If not I'd do a search for the MN and ND Motor Vehicle Code; I'll bet the entire thing's online.

Tobi - I'll have to keep an eye out for you. I haven't seen a bumperless Spider in person. I've tucked mine, but will be removing this winter.

I will be at the WOI event on the the 26th of August if I'll ever find the time to put the shifter back on that came off last week.

Thought about this on the way home last night. I wonder if you could fit those Nurf or Nerv bars - or whatever they are called that people were putting on the VW's back in the 80's. Those might look pretty cool. :?:

Katsi, Jim,

Give me a day or two to document what I've come up with. I used 1 5/8" diameter exhaust tubing and made an angled "T" bar that fits into the stock bumper shock mount. The rubber gasket surround from the rear bumper tubes are used as the T bar exists the oval hole in the front, covers everything and looks good.

I found some turn signal lights at NAPA that look close to the original early turn signals and mount in the square holes without modifications to the sheet metal.
