Importance of keeping the vehicle "original"

As for mine, I'm trying to keep it original-looking but well maintained on a shoe-string budget. I'm not out to turn a daily driver into a show car. Once you start down that road it can be a slippery slope, where do you stop? If you have the money then I say go for what ever makes you happy and don't worry about pleasing a potential buyer, there'll always be someone who wants yours.
