Hello to all of the wonderfully knowledgeable FIAT owners out there!
I have recently started to restore my newly purchased 1980 spider. I have taken out the majority of the interior and am in the process of cleaning up and removing rust from the floor pan (surprise surprise ). I was hoping to get some input on what products people have used to treat/prevent rust and seal this surface up (on the interior and exterior). On a similar note, what products have been used to prep the body for paint, and in what order are they used?
I have also heard that you want to stick with the same brand of paint for your base and clear coats. Is there any truth to this? If so, do you also want to purchase the same brand of primer?
Thanks in advance for any and all input. I hope to put some pics up soon of progress thus far! This forum has already been incredibly helpful, and there is nothing like looking at pictures of other beautifully restored spiders for some INSPIRATION!!!

Thanks for the reply, this thread has been beyond helpful! I don't think I will be painting until the end of the summer but it's never too early to start thinking about itblurple124 wrote:Start here: http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... 30&t=18423
P. S. I look forward to reading about progress with 'Antonia.' I think I will start a restoration thread once I have made a little more progress..
