Engine Block Paint, Correct Color?

I have a 1970 850 Sport Coupe, I want to paint the block the correct original color once it comes back from the machine shop. The remaining paint is blue but I've seen black, gray on other peoples cars. Any ideas?

I believe mine is and always has been black. I am away from home for another week but will verify for you when I get back.

Mine has its original 817 in it.

My 79 is original black.

fiat used light grey on all blocks from the factory from 1967- as far as i know and have seen, definatly the 850 series , 128 series and 124 series engines

Under all the grime that was washed off, my 80 FI is a light grey, almost a battleship grey. Definitely original.

Thanks for all the responses. It's strange, I have two 850 motors and both are blue. I have also found promo leaflets from the period that also show the motor is blue, as seen here-
