Well I knew it was going too well…
More or less normal maintenance issues until I decided to investigate why the radiator didn't quite fit right. I already had it drained to check the temp sensor and stat, so I thought I would pull it and check what was going on. If a picture speaks a thousand words, what happens if they all happen to be four letter words? I guess it just slipped by me. It didn't help the A/C coil and Air box both had it blocked. I did notice some bending in the lower front cowl, but I just assumed they ran over a curb stop, and it would be fixed when I do the body work. So I went ahead and took out the A/C and air box to get a better look, and this is what I found. I'm not a fabricator, so I don't know the best way to fix this. I have some ideas, maybe just cut it out and box in the section? Any Ideas?? Bumpers and mounts are all strait, so I have no Idea how this could have happened.

The PO should have said something.... :x

Also, is it worth keeping the A/C stuff? I don't think I would ever run it, but you guys would know better than I. I don't have the blower unit or the coil that goes in the car, but I have the controls, so it's only about 3/4 of the whole system.

very odd damage. my guess is the PO ditched the car and landed on a big rock. probably saved more extensive damage. I would grind off the tow tongue and rebuild the square tubes and joints. If you dont worry about the cosmetics, you may want to just get the damaged stuff as straight as possible or remove and double over the top with square tubing or angle iron. fortunately, the damage looks very local. Personally i would leave the AC off. if you arent going to use it, it just adds weight and restricts air thru the radiator.

I'm not sure if this A/C stuff is even worth anything without the blower and evaporator, but I would like to offer it to one of you guys since you have been so helpful. I was just going to take it do the scrap yard since I will never use it. But if someone wants to pay shipping, I would gladly give it a new home! Not pictured is a console unit with the on off switch which I can take a picture of if someone is interested.

Let me know if there are any takers. Like I said, I have no idea if it has any value whatsoever, so let me know if I should just scrap it.

If no one would like any of the parts from the A/C system I'm going to scrap it this week. Do you think anyone will want it? I hate to send it to the yard if it's a good unit.

Thanks!

the good thing is the damage is not structural, in the meaning that it will not affect the driveability of the car. that being said the damage at the sway bar front bracket will need to be repaired so the sway bar will be effective. my first suggestion is to see if you can find a donor chassis and cut off the inner nose, it would be easyer to just cut and weld the piece back in. especially now you are removing the a/c the lower front valence can be put back correctly as well. it appears to me that the damage was done by a towing/recovery, where the tow truck used the factory tie down for wenching. hate to say that as i own a tow company, but some operators dont pay attention to what they are doing
