When I went to clean under the windshield wiper cowel panel this weekend, I found some writing on the underside. It looks like a signature, I assume someone who put car together. The spider is a 1982, so that explains the "82", but I don't know what the "28//" refers to and I can't decipher the name. Anyone hazard a guess for either??

Re: Assembler Signature??
The name looks like Jelmari to me. I googled it and it is a Scandavian name, probably Finnish. It's also the name in Finnish for a Swedish town of Hjalmaren.
Could it be that some Fin decided to relocate to a more moderate clime?
That's gotta be a 2 in 28//, it looks the same as the one in 82. Can't figure out what the hashmarks would indicate though.

A lot of different places put the day/month/year instead of what we normally do. (month/day/year)
So it could have been 28th of January 1982.
Maybe?

The last 4 digits of the serial number are 2892. I am not sure what all the numbers in a serial number indicate, but could this be related? As far as the name, you got better CSI handwriting reading skills than me!
Were all these cars built in Italy?

I doubt it would be a J, there isn't a J in the Italian alphabet, it looks like an 'I' (I was getting a flashback from my Grandfathers letter to my dad), unless maybe a Finnish worker was in the production line in Italy?
