Passers-by Shout-outs

Post by Italchic »

Does this happen to anyone else? I'll be driving along and people, either in other cars or on the sidewalk, will yell out things like "nice car" or "trade you" or "I like your car".

Yep .... I get the same kind of comments. One guy even followed me to the grocery store to get a closer look at my car.

I went to give my friend a ride the night he bought his and on the way I had just mentioned how people really take notice of our cars. (swear to God) we get to a stop sign and this stunning woman walks by stops, looks and says " that is sweet ride" My friend turns to me and says "I am buying the car no matter what shape it's in"

A few weeks go I was bring home a spider parts car on my trialer. It had flat tires, no top, and had been sitting in the weeds for 5 years all beat up and rusty. I had a couple in a 67 Chevelle SS give me the thums up when I was on the interstate. I think they thought I was going to save it, but I am using it for parts and scraping the body. Way to much rust in all the wrong places.

I had a guy recently come out of a store he was working in,just to look at the car.He was young, and had no idea what it was.He kept saying "Wow,that is beautiful".When I told him it was 30 years old he couldnt believe it.That is the kind of reaction that makes it all worthwhile.

I was sitting in my office (my car is always parked right out my office window), and I saw a VW pass the office, quickly make a U-turn into the parking lot, and make a mad dash parking right next to my car. The guy got out and looked up and down the car with a smile. I opened the window and we chatted a bit...he absolutely loved the car. Turns out he had an MG Midget with a 350 Chevy in it back home in Minn.

My wife drove the Spider to her job at school and one of the students yelled "Nice Porsche Mrs. G!" She didn't correct the child but it sure brought a smile to her face.

That's the great thing about owning a Spider. People become very friendly when they see the cars out and about.

My favorite was on one of the drives up to Oregon for the Mirafiori campout weekend. I had my little trailer behind me (which is painted to match the car) and a Porche Carrera honked as he was passing me and gave me a BIG grin and thumbs up.
That was cool.

Last weekend I was driving through the Owens Beach parking lot in Tacoma and a young woman in a very small bikini yelled out "Nice car, you want some t_____s and beer?" She must have thought it was a Ferrari. I declined.
