Went to a new Cruise Night tonight at SE Regional Voc Tech in South Easton Mass. About 100 cars. Nice.

There was a 1963 MGB there with a 454 8-cylinder in it. I kid you not. 9 second quarters. Well I started a long conversation with the fellow and he is the original owner. He got bored about 10 years ago and has spent the last 10 years refining this thing. It is absolutely amazing. BUT the best part is that he loved the Spider, had nothing but good things to say, "beautiful" "Timeless" etc, and lamented along with me that there are not more small European cars represented at these shows. It does tend to get a bit monotone.... Great fellow, and loves the Fiat classics.

Also there was a cool Pacer, a Monza, a couple of Nash's, an all original Willys, and a Military Support truck, all unique and fun. And a Fairlane 500 with a retractable hardtop, from the factory. 10 motors and relays. pissah.

Here is the link to the pics:

Nice pictures! My uncle owned a Fairlane retractable back in the late 60s - he never put the top down because the motors constantly would fail.

Nice! Thanks for posting all the pictures. It's great to go to a show with a lot of different cars.

He said that he had to do years of internal surgery on the MG, basically weaving a frame into it to hold the big block engine. Quite a project. I think he was a little nuts, but he seemed ok on the outside.... I guess after owning it for 49 years, maybe some of us would do the same to our Spiders? ... <{:^)
