I saw an ad placed on Craigslist where a guy was selling a "racing 124 motor with high tech intake and cams". Turned out to be just a regular old worn out 1979 2000 motor and transmission with a box of parts. As for the high tech intake - it was just the regular old 79 crapola webber and multicolored intake. He wanted 600.00 for the lot. I know. I politly told him that I did not think that he had anything special and that every guy with a Fiat 124 already has an old, worn out motor and transmission. Anyway, he said that he was most likely going to take everything to the scrap yard and scrap it all. I kinda don't want to see that happen to some of these parts but, I really don't know how much to offer the guy. For that matter, I really don't want any of it at all - even if he gave it to me. Yet, they are original parts. I think everything to make a running motor. Anyway, any thoughts?

Re: How Much?
I'd pass. The head is not really sought after. The intake will be the dual plane thing, again usually smelted down, carb, 28/32?, is usually replaced with a better one. Block...., supppose it could be used for a start of an engine project or if cleaned properly, a float anchor at the lake
The aux shaft might be handy for anyone that broke theirs because of the #2 rod contact.
If oil pan is not smashed in and oil pump good might be worth something as would the elec. distributor. $50.00 for those things perhaps? The cam towers with the cable throttle hook up...
Can't think of anything else at the moment.

Re: How Much?
$100 or $75 bucks. The 2 liter block has some value, as does the trans. I would pick it up if it was near.
Re: How Much?
He said the lowest he would go would be $200.00. So I guess it's off to the recycle bin.

I'm with Rey: if it were close to me, I'd probably even give him the $200, just to have the spares. but nothing he's got there is "rare", and certainly not "valuable".katsi wrote:He said the lowest he would go would be $200.00. So I guess it's off to the recycle bin.
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
