My "official welcome" to next Lemons race

Post by ga.spyder »

You have to love these guys.I got this email after sign-up for my next event  Car and Driver magazine sponsors the Lemons series

Ann Arbor MI -- Today Car and Driver reported that Craig Nelson, against the advice of mental-health professionals, will compete in the 24 Hours of LeMons -- a wheel-to-wheel car race for heaps that cost $500 or less. Nelson's team -- the unpromisingly named "Scuderia F.A.R.T. (Fiat Abarth Racing Team}" -- hits your local track on 09/22/2012 to 09/23/2012, where therapists and junkyard operators are already standing by.

One relative, on condition of anonymity, described Nelson's family as "...saddened but unsurprised" by the news. "Unfortunately, we've come to expect such lapses in judgment," the source told C/D.

Friends, coworkes, and relatives interested in staging an intervention and/or watching Nelson do something incredibly embarrassing can find more information at Car and Driver's LeMons minisite or LeMons' race-info page.

Check out this message I got from Lemons. It seems we are sharing the track with long distance bicyclists on Sat. night!!What a mis-match

Beer-Guzzling LeMons Racers to Horrify Athletes in South Carolina

Deadline tomorrow for chance to ruin long-distance cyclists' weekend.

Camden SC--Sedentary, pork-slurping car racers and sinewy long-distance cyclists will share Friday night's paddock at LeMons South Fall, thanks to an ill-advised stop by the National MS Society's Breakaway to the Beach cycling tour. Signups for the full-course 22-23 Sept crapcan race at Carolina Motorsports Park are due tomorrow.

Raising money per mile for multiple sclerosis research and support, the charity-minded athletes will camp at the track Friday evening--a plan perfectly timed to ensure they begin their 100-mile Saturday leg sleep-deprived, logy, hungover, and sick from fried Oreos. After surviving Friday's downtown-Camden racecar parade, tech inspection, and block party, the cyclists will be kept up all night by engine tuning, hogsheads of moonshine, and the scrofulous fug put out by 600 rib-snarfing cavemen in Nomex.

Those cyclists still able to pedal on Saturday will begin their endurance leg with a ceremonial lap of the track, followed by nausea, regret, and a craving for aspirin
