Car is done blues.
Car is done blues.
I know this sounds stupid but now that my car is out of paint and everything is done, all I have left to do is just drive her and I'm getting a little board . I see now why you guys take on additional projects. Yet, my wife is NOT going to allow another one . And yes, she has to allow me to do things otherwise it's just one of those bitching points that end up rubbing a big sore into things (allow me to introduce you to my Kawasaki Ninja in the garage). So, I purchased a GT convertible mustang - er uhhh - for her (yeah that's my story and I'm sticking to it - seemes to be working except that I have to let her drive it whenever she wants - she has her own key ). But that's all new and I don't want to go futsing with that (futsing means to break things or wreak general havock on by thinking I know what the heck I'm doing). So, what is their to do now? What cool projects can I do to my spider? Open to ideas. Wasn't their a guy with a short shifter project?

Purchased the short shifter from Mike Bouse. Great product. It is a 20 minute deal assuning you can get the old shift lever off the post using the pry method. Nope.... Your going to need to do more than a short shifter. I suggest a good stereo so you can choose to listen to the car or the stereo.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

Re: Car is done blues.
Do you have a stock motor? If not, perhaps snoop around for a 2nd block and head and HC pistons and cams and, and.... Put it on a stand and pick away as time and $$ sees fit. You can hang a fair number of towels on a 2L block if she asks what it is for..
I was kinda in the same boat, but every year I find something to up grade.. went to Koni's and 1" front bar. next year slotted rotors and braded brake lines... hopefully one year Marks electronic ignition is on the list.
I trust the brakes work now..

I did that before the car even ran. I even built that speaker box \ shelf project to replace the back seat. So, you like the short shifter? But, not too complicated. Just an afternoon. I think I can sucessfully screw that up.TX82FIAT wrote: I suggest a good stereo so you can choose to listen to the car or the stereo.

OHHH that was a good one . Yes, they were a major pain in the butt. I like the braded hoses idea. But, remembering back to the brakes being a major PITA - I'm calling the brakes DONE! That does remind me that I do need to fish out that tip to the spark plug that fell inside my spare motor (remember that one ). Yeah, I guess tearing into that spare motor would be a good project to start. That is a great suggestion.narfire wrote:I trust the brakes work now..

How about finding other noobs like me, but in your neck of the woods, and help them get their Spiders squared away?
Re: Car is done blues.
why not spend some time on the porch, kicked back with a cold one, admiring how nice the car is?
Re: Car is done blues.
I have! One of the guys that has been my "go to" recruit for jobs that I needed two hands for has purchased my neighbors 81 FI. All he has left to do is to get some decent tieres and get her registered and insurred.supplyguy wrote:How about finding other noobs like me, but in your neck of the woods, and help them get their Spiders squared away?

you need to make yourself a trailer using the ass of a matching spider. Saw a 55 chev with a trunk and nose put together for a trailer...all matchy matchy. It was very cool.

If you have a Fiat Spider, you just THINK you're DONE! Keep driving and you will learn better.katsi wrote:I know this sounds stupid but now that my car is out of paint and everything is done, all I have left to do is just drive her and I'm getting a little board .
