Hot summertime ride
I havent had a chance to put many miles on the car lately,so this morning I decided to break her out.Checked fluids, fired her up,and filled her up with premium ethanol free (only fuel I ever put in it) gas.I live in the mountains, and people drive from all over just to test their skills and cars/bikes in our area.I set out on some of the steepest, curviest roads around here.I dont baby this car...I ran the snot out of it.Hairpins, steep climbs, fast sweepers, and hard braking downhills.I drove almost 100 miles with no break.90+ degree heat and the car never protested a bit.The temp guage never went over 190 and the brakes didnt fade a bit.You gotta love these cars. They were made to be driven hard and with a little maint.,they are always ready!!! You guys in the middle of restorations, keep at it.There is a payoff in the end.

Re: Hot summertime ride
Having just come back from Turin, I can verify that those are the temperatures the cars were built for. It was blistering sun and temperatures in the 90s (F). I wouldn't want to be as far south as Sicily...

Cool!
Any ride I take out here is a hot one. 90 would be a cool day.
When we drive up to Oregon for the Mirafiori campout weekend it's in the latter part of July and the temps going up through the San Jaquin (central Cal.) valley it's up to 100 or more. We use the old squirt bottle air conditioning method.

I ran the snot out of it[/quote] and at the end I bet you had a big smile. Lucky with the weather but after watching the news tonight, sounds like a bit of a freek wind storm came through. No one at the PGA game today.
Had a chance to take the brother in laws WRX out for a spin... WOW
Bruce it's no different here in the "sunny okanagan" I did take the car home on Thurs. but back inside it went Friday and today because of the rain . Perhaps Wed next week...hope hope hopecourtenay wrote:I just wish it would stop bloody raining up here so I could take a "hot summertime ride

Re: Hot summertime ride
Things are a little different on the other end of this rock we share
It was minus two degrees Celcius when I took SPYDUH out the other morning to participate in a run which celebrated our car club's 14th anniversary. A stiff south-westerly was blowing up from Antarctica and bringing with it persistant drizzle, mist and fog upin the hills. It had been raining heavily all last week and our planned route had to be modified to skirt around sections of road that had been closed due to local flooding. The Spider, an MGB and a Healey 3000 were the only convertibles amongst the 30 odd cars on the run, all had their tops up, but the owners braved the conditions and were admired for their tenacity.
We all gathered for lunch at a country hotel (the 60 of us virtually taking over the Dining Room) and by the time we'd finished, the rain had stopped, the roads were dry and I was glad I had SPYDUH for the enjoyable run home.

Re: Hot summertime ride
We didnt get any of the rain or storms here in N.E.Georgia.It rarely gets above 90 deg. here and we are going on 3 straight days approaching 100! The car really did perform flawlessly.I passed a BMW and Subaru, both much newer cars, with steam pouring out of them.
