DIXIE FIATFEST AUG 31 - SEPT 2, 2012

Post by mdrburchette »

The 4th annual Dixie Fiatfest will be held in Winston-Salem, NC on Labor Day weekend at The Hawthorne Inn. This event is weekend driving event that you don't want to miss.
Friday night will be the annual Gokart competition at The Pit. Show off your driving skills on this indoor track and try to beat Amber, my 13 year old gokart racing daughter and her mama.

Saturday, the time distance rally will take us into Virginia to The Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway. You won't want to miss the beautiful scenery and the fun twisties! After lunch at the Mill, we'll stop at a winery or two along the way. After dinner, we'll meet in the hotel parking lot for a bit of socializing.

Sunday will be the autocross with the BMW 2002 boys. We have to find a way to beat these guys and I hear practice makes perfect, so come on out and test your driving skills. We'll have the usual tailgate pizza lunch.

Hope to see you soon! For more information or if you want to be added to my emailing list for local NC events, please email me at spyderlady71@yahoo.com

I am putting the date on my calendar. I have noticed that we have a good number of new members in the area, and I would highly recommend that they attend this great event. I have been the last two years. Last year I won the "Not Quite Good Enough" trophy for second fastest Fiat at the Autocross, so I am looking to better that this year.

It's a gathering of Fiat enthusiasts for a 3 day weekend of driving. It's not a car show and we don't care if your car is a driver, restoration, rust bucket or a new car. We don't even care if you drive a Ford pickup. It's all about getting together, enjoying beautiful scenery and participating in a little friendly competition. Friday, August 31st, we start the weekend with a little gokart racing at an indoor facility in Mooresville. Saturday, we line up for a time/distance rally through the Blue Ridge Mountains, then have our annual autocross competition with the BMW 2002 clan. Even if you've never done any of these types of driving events, you are guaranteed a good time. We'd love for you to join us. If you are interested in finding out more, just email me at spyderlady71@yahoo.com and I'll give you more information.

The thing I love about Fiatfest is the fact that it isnt centered around a car show. Its a 'run what you brung' event. Those of us that own driver cars and not trailer queens, really enjoy the format. And,we have a blast.I guarantee you leave there with new friends.

Neither one of my Fiats will be running by then, so maybe I'll show up in my VW Vanagon Camper! Doubt it would be a contender in the autocross though. :D

Hopefully Francesco will be up to the trek. Just bought a roll bar and hope to have it in place along with car seat lock downs in the back seat - anyone with past experience please chime in..... Otherwise we may be trailer queens/trash and join the Forddites on the sidelines (pulled pork / mint juleps anyone?)
Checked the website and it looks like this year's event date is correct, but the day2day agenda describes last year's event.

It doesn't matter how you get there, just do it!
I ran into a problem trying to update the website. Hopefully I can get one of my kids to figure it out and get it done.

I dont think I'll have the spider ready in time. Can i bring a Cadillac Allante? Its a Pininfarina design if that helps. Otherwise maybe I'll convince my gf to come and bring her 500c lounge.
