I don't think shane had anything to do with the Ferrari 250 in the movie but he told me about a project car
that a director had him work on for some sci fi movie about the future and some of the metal had to look
different from any metals we have here on earth. Not sure how he dwelt with that, He also design dune
buggy seats back in the 60s and 70s Sears used to carry them.

I read the write up just now thanks for looking it up. Very interesting facts I wonder why they needed to changeOk found a link on this "Ferris Bueller" car, 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California replica, MG chassis w/ ford 302 under the hood, fiberglass body built by Modina Design
the MG engine ? with some sound effects they could of made it seem like a v12 I would think .

Actually that car was built on a custom made tube chassis to original wheelbase etc specs and a Ford 351 engine.
I know because again I was interested in buying it when it was for sale.

That is really cool. I especially like the head light covers. I wonder if it would be possible to put a cover like that on our tittle cars. It would kinda round out the front end a bit. Too cool.

They used to sell similar covers to those in the late 70,s and early 80,s.
The way I see it, that kit would take a lot of time and money and in the end you would still have a spider. For a lot less money you could build a very nice spider. I personally couldnt see putting mg parts on my Fiat. It is a nice loooking car though, just not my cup of tea. I do like kit cars, just not that one. Again, just my opinion.

Shane's goal with this Kit Fiat was to make money selling them he had a large collection of Fiats at
his warehouse in various conditions. Some where in great shape but most he purchased as beaters for cheap.
Since he needed to redo everything on the car as they built it to the look and quality of a almost new turn key
collector kit Car. We spoke a number of times about the project he asked me from time to time about
details or for advise on 124s. I would share or help when I could He also hired me to work on some of his
other projects he was restoring Dino Spider, Ferrari GT4 and some of the kit Cars. I spent a good deal
of time around Shane he had his views on Fiat Spiders and thought they were a good looking car
in his own words. His goal never to modify a fiat to make it better but to make a good amount of profit
on these. I believe his starting price was going to be in the neighborhood of 35K in the late 90s.
I know Shane sold a bunch of 124s over seas and other cars as well he had a connection in Japan they would
paint the 124 Hood and Trunk black giving it more of a rally car appearance making some pretty good markup
for a while doing that. Not sure all the details. I also met some of his friends, Hal was one of them before
he became a member on here I was the one who invited Hal to join the forum he didn't even know one existed
before that. To bad both Hal and Shane are gone now they both did such good work masters at their trade and
hobbies.

Never met shane, but Hal was a great guy. He will be missed.
