ithink i will be doing this my self, so what do i need not to do lol
and if i have never done this,is it wise to do so? i don't have a press of any kind, would i need one, i can buy most anything if i had too. let me know, i will also be replacing the ends and rods too

No need for special tools other than a spring compressor (can use wire/rope if budget is limited and you are courageous) and maybe a welder if some touch-ups are needed.

If you are installing complete arms with new joints that's about it. A internal spring compressor is very handy.

I just did mine with an external compressor on my 69, an impact wrench came in very handy for getting the 40+ year old nuts off the lower arms!

Depending on your budget and the extent of joint replacements you plan to do, you may want to consider buying complete new control arms vs trying to replace all the joints. The price may not be that much more when you consider the work involved. I do think the older arms look a bit beefier than the new ones though. International Auto Parts offers complete ones.
Regarding the springs, lesson learned for me is it is best to not have the engine out when replacing the springs, or the compression needed on the new springs gets pretty scary without the extra weight.

i have a guy doing my work for me , i aint got the time to deal with it or the proper tools
