Hoodliners for big bump hoods

Post by ga.spyder »

First off, thanks to 'italchic' for the original post on the hoodliners from http://www.hoodliners.net I had several conversations with the owner, and although he had a template for the flat hoods there was none for the late models.I went thru the process of making up a template and sending it to Gonzo(Gonzalo Duque). He sent me the liners in a very timely manner and they are now installed. He was a pleasure to work with, and the communication couldnt have been better.
The material is used in the aircraft industry to make firewalls.Very heat and oil resistant and a very lightweight material. It was easy to work with and a breeze to install. It came with Fiat decals to personalize them. All for around $70 including shipping.
They look great installed.I have had several comments at a car show and have a 69 Camaro and a Porsche 944 owner who have ordered them.He makes them for many import and domestic cars,I tried to get the quilted liners, like the early cars had. They dont make them for big bump cars and they are very expensive.I think these are a nice, inexpensive alternative to the stock hoodliners that run across our whole hood!

Robert,I just sent him the pics and maybe he hasnt upgraded it yet.All my conversations were thru his email which is tbirddmnd@att.net. He is really easy to deal with. The liners came with very explicit instructions.Make sure you let him know which style hood you have

Ive never understood the fad of broadcasting the manufactures name around the car. For example the old style stickers that ran across the top of the windshield in large white letters. I think these liners would look so much nicer without the over powering logo.

I like them, but the dual logos seem a little odd. Too bad the format doesn't permit one large logo. Perhaps Fiat on one side and Spider on the other

If you dont like the logos, you dont have to put them on.They come with the liners but they arent installed. The basic kit had one,but I asked for an extra.I debated putting the second one on,but felt it looked unbalanced with one.He does a lot of custom decals,so he might be able to do something like Mark suggests. For me,it was a definite upgrade over what I had.I posted the links because I felt the price was good.I would never promote or reccomend a product I havent tried first.

Glad I was able to be of some assistance, as was noted, the decals come seperately and cane be applied at the owner's discretion. I received two also, the retro style and the new one. I used the original on the liner and the newer style on my tool box in the trunk.
