would anybody have one of these laying around i good shape? or a custom replacement? would the center panel from the newer Spiders fit? the chrome on mine is peeling quite badly to the point that i cant dress it up to paint

These weren't very robust when new, and not many have survived in pristine condition. http://www.spider-point.com/framework.php/mode// sells a new aftermarket version, but you'd better be sitting down when you check the price.
I used rattle can black crinkle on my Spider Point one to duplicate the OE look. If you go to the time and trouble to renovate your instruments, cap the dash, fabricate and finish mahogany panels to match your new Nardi wheel (complete with a horn button made from a trunk badge), etc., the hundred bucks for the bezel doesn't feel so painful.

If the distance between the two switches is the same, then yes. Some are farther apart.
