Hood spring adjustment?

Post by ga.spyder »

I removed my hood to install my new hoodliners. They are a great product, and I will get some pics posted.I re installed the hood and adjusted my gaps.No issue. After everything was completed, the spring that holds the hood upright doesnt seem right. The hood is definitely leaning back toward the engine. It sat fairly upright before.I dont see any way to adjust this,or a reason why it has changed.Any ideas?

my guess would be the added weight of the inserts... mine i would trust in the garage or on a windless day to hold the hood... little bit more weight would definitely make mine lean a little more

There is a small metal bracket that spans the two spring bars that can be moved along the spring bar mechanism a little ways and will provide some adjustment. You can just see it in this pic at the bottom of the mechanism. It attaches in a sandwich on the bars with an 8mm nut. I just fiddled with this yesterday putting my hood back on as well.

Thanks for asking and thanks for a possible solution. For years I have used a thin piece of rod to help prop up the hood.

I will try the bracket and see if that helps. The hoodliners weigh virtually nothing and are no heavier that the ones I took out,Thats why I found it odd that the hood seems to have been affected. Thanks guys!
