Today at the park
Today at the park
I finishedc the brakes on the Spider and decided to take my daughter to the park in the Fiat. Afterall, it was 70 out today! So I was buckiling Lilly into her seat when an old man came up and started asking about my Spider. He comments how beautiful it is. I tell him that I have alot of work to do to it before I would condsier it beautiful! After a few minutes of small talk, the guy offers me $5k to buy it from me. I tell him it is not for sale. He then offers $6K. I told him its still nto for sale. I've never had this happen before with a car. Couple times with my motorcycle. But those people seemed to be possibly kidding. This guy wasn't joking. It kinda bothered me thinking that he could just buy mny car like that, but now if he offered $10-15k, he would have had to give me a ride home!
Re: Today at the park
I got the hookup on a 5k fiat if this guy is serious. Jeremy, just send me an email at danielreinhardt@msn.com if you want the name/info/pictures of one for sale.... (PS, i'm serious, and obviously not talking about my own fiat, although if he was crazy enough....)

Re: Today at the park
I hear you Jeremy. We've all had cars in the past that we really loved (mine was a cherry '63 Impala convertible back in 1969) but this is the first car I would have to get an outrageous offer for to ever part with. Kinda nice when that happens though huh? Sure gives your pride of ownership a boost.
Re: Today at the park
Danno, If I hear from the guy, I'll let ya know. I dont think the old guy has internet. He wanted contact info, and I gave him my name and email. He seemed a little confused abou tth eemail address thing. When I got his info, He gave me his name and address, no email.
But, I'll let ya know if I hear from him.
Rlux, It did make me feel nice, but also a little confused. My Fiat is not/was not in what I consider presentable condition. While it is all there, and working, I need to get it repainted, and put in a whole new interior. In fact, when I got home from the park, my daughter took a nap, while I washed the Fiat. It was pretty dirty after being driven in the rain a couple times, and sittign in the garage while being worked on.
But, after giving it a bath, I threw soem wax on it and it started to look pretty damned good. When I drove it to the supermarket, I had a couple people compliment me on it!
Yeah, as far as cars com ing and going, I've never regretted selling a car. But, I sincerely regret selling my 65 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle. I will never forgive myself for that one. As long as I can get in and out of the Spider, and work on it, I seriously doubt I'll sell it.

Re: Today at the park
hey Jeremy, I had a couple of Triumphs too that I wish I had back. I had a 69 Tiger, and a 72 Bonneville. Kicking myself these days for getting rid of them. Of course, I doubt that the wife would let me ride them anymore
Re: Today at the park
I loved the Tigers! A simplified Bonneville is a thing of beauty. Th ebiggest prob with the Bonne was the 2 carb set up. The Tiger did away with that. My dad had a 70 Tiger. It was the most beautiful machine I'd ever seen. Absolutely flawless! The onlt Triumph that started on teh firsst kick EVERY timer, and never leaked a drop of anything. It took my dad years to get that bike perfect.
I was not a big fan of the 71 on Triumphs. I didnt like the look of em, and didn't like the design of em. Just a personal thing.
My wife actually talked me into getting rid of the old Triumph. SHe was sick of not being abloe to go for a ride, because I was always working of the bike. So she convinced me to sell it and get a new Triumph. So I got my 01 Triumph Sprint RS. I do not regret buying th enew bike, but seriously miss the old one. But now, the 01 is currently for sale. I never ride it any more. Now that I have the Spider, I really dont ride it. So it will go to a good home in which it will not be ignored and neglected.

Re: Today at the park
Hey, Mark! I know where your Triumph is, and you can have it back for a cool $3,000.
Jeremy, as time marches on....and work in that Spider continues by your own hands, the ability to think about selling grows weaker and weaker.

Re: Today at the park
Just read your email. I'm gonna have to get one of those in the future! As far as selling the Fiat, I dont think it will happen. I dont have a whole lot of $ in it, but there is a whole lot of time and plannin in it.
Hell, I already resigned myself to the fact that my 04 Nissan truck will be my daughters first car (she gonna be 4 next week). I think I'm gonna be driving my Fiat after that, until I can get my hands on another daily driver.
