bumperless turn signals ??

Post by mbouse »

i realize that we have a great solution for the bumper shock hole, thanks mark.

I was wondering if anyone has a good solution for the rectangular hole if i dump my front bumpers. i'll be using the round holes for a bumperette.

would there be any benefit to keeping that passage open. Perhaps using the woven SS stuff you used on your grill, Curly?

They serve no purpose that I'm aware of. It's in the wrong place to use for brake cooling ducts, and drawing attention to them with SS mesh probably wouldn't be a good thing  . I say fill them in for a nice uncluttered, clean look.

I've never heard the Jeep Wrangler one, but the hard to find 81-89 dodge colt signal light are mentioned but never verified on many forums. The pontiac montana has lights that look like they' might fit.

I'm going to do some work on my car tomorrow installing a front air dam I bought from Mark (looks great BTW), I'll bring my camera and take some pics of the front end with bumper blocks and the generic signal lights I've installed in the front grill. I was thinking of putting driving lights in the rectangular holes.

My plan is to make a cardboard template of the hole(s) so I can carry it to part stores and get a better idea for fitments.

I saw a German website that used a set of 124 Sedan turn signals. Those are NLA, but I got a set of new Lada lights and it's a close match. They are a tad smaller than the hole, and I'll have to make some kind of blanking plate to mount them in. The hole in the fender is also sort of parallelogram shaped, not to mention a curved surface, so it's not an easy problem. b-

Hey folks,

Last year, before I put the Spider to bed for the winter, I mounted some Harley Davidson signal lights above the older bumper I had just mounted. The older bumper covered up the holes pretty well but when I get the car painted in 2009, I will have them filled in. Looking at the pictures below, you can see that these lights are still visible from the side and I think the chrome looks very good.

Last month I found some older rear bumpers and the front and rears are now out getting some holes filled in, straightened and then rechromed. When I get the car out of storage in April and the bumpers mounted, I will post a few more pictures.

not bad, but IMHO lights in the grill don't look natural, they look like they've been relocated

Here's a pic I took of Sophia today after I installed the airdam, I prefer rectangular lights myself.

I've replaced the ugly cellphone pic with a new one.... you can really see the nice front air-dam from So Cal Mark http://www.allisonsautomotive.com/, the bumper blocks are from Cabri-Ole! e-bay store (Germany)http://www.cabriole.de, and the generic signal lights from Crappy Tire http://www.canadiantire.ca... a truly international effort!

It does look dam great, doesn't it? Excellent product Mark! How is the fiberglass rear seat back coming along? I'll order one as soon as they're ready.
the Airdam' was deceptively easy to install, I expected to be fighting with it for hours! I can't wait for Winter to end, so I can get her outside for some fresh air and some better photos. (air is fresher at +110KPH)

the rear seat insert will come after the bumper blocks. Since we have a good insert to create a mold from it shouldn't take too long once we get into that project.

I look forward to ordering one...

And I edited and updated the pic I posted earlier of my front end, and gave credit to the many vendors responsible... :-)

Hi Carl,
I had the same idea about the Harley lights. I have new ones sitting around and thought , why not use them in the grill area.
looks good.
