Re: Fiat and Mazda jointly working on a new roadster
Well there has been a lot of talk around these parts about this car, and mostly from non-car enthusiasts, which is interesting. Maybe there is a larger demand for small open-air 2-seaters than we realize? I think this thing is wickhud pissah and I hope they sell it at a reasonable price. Pininfarina sure makes beautiful cars, ours included!

You think that's ugly???? I think it is the most beautiful car I've seen in years, like maybe forever!AZ79 wrote:
There are enough computer-generated cars out there already. Sick of seeing these angular, ugly replicas.
Oh, and it is not a computer generated phony. See https://www.google.com/search?q=Duettot ... 14&bih=706

Italian motorcycles. An Italian car. An Italian wife. What more could a man desire?

I am going to have to agree with those of you who LIKE the Miata. I too feel that putting ANYTHING with two seats and an open top on a MX5 format is a winning combination. Like the Miata or not, it's a quality automobile that somehow fell in the "Chick Car" zone. Re-badge a Miata with an Alfa badge and give it some of that Alfa beauty - I'm buying one - thats for sure!

I meant Cad or whatever programs they use to design a car now days.DUCeditor wrote:

May 29, 2012 headline on Reuters: "Fiat has no plans for stake in Mazda"

Maybe the joint venture is a marketing ploy? Reminds me of when Airbus and Boeing were rumored to have been working together to build a mega plane back in the '90's.

Being an Alfa fanatic, I welcome the joint effort between Mazda and Fiat to create the first front motored, rear wheel drive roadster in many years that we can actualy afford to own! According to the recent press releases, the new car will have an Alfa powerplant, transmission and should, with a few subtle mods, be a very satisfying car. Any of us in our Fiats or Alfas that have run in company with the Mazda roadsters will have to admit they perform on a par with our babies! It seems the way of modern car mfg. to need the joint efforts such as this. The recent efforts from Fiat re Alfa that they have spoon fed us have been poor substitutes for the early cars with all the character they possess and I for one am excited to look at a new roadster that doesn't carry a 300K price tag ( Alfa 8C ). Lets just wait and see.
