Service manual and Posting photos

Post by giuliot60 »

Hi.

I don't know if my image will be viewable, but has anyone ever used or own this Pinanfarina service manual? It's on ebay for $50.

link to ebay image: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fiat-2000-Spide ... 40&vxp=mtr

image?: http://i.ebayimg.com/14/!B84Gth!BGk~$(KGrHqZ,!h4EzLtF2yk(BM4MUodotQ~~0_12.JPG

And can someone tell me how to post photos onto this site, or show me where to go to find out? I copied and pasted, but only see the above link.

Thanks.

First put the photos up on Photobucket. Then when you are in the Fiatspider forum, click the "img" button and you will get the "img" message that you mention.

Now, go back into Photobucket, hover the cursor over the picture you want and a drop down menu will appear, click on the "direct link" and it will give a "copied" message.

Go back to our forum and put the cursor in between the 2 "img" notes and click "paste" and the weblink for the picture will appear. Make sure that it pastes directly in between the 2 "img" notes.

When you post the message in the forum the picture will be wherever you placed that "img" message.

Remember that there is a file size limit to the pictures so you may need to downsize the photo with image software to get it to fit. To make them smaller, I just email the pic to myself in AOL and choose the "optimized" version when prompted, and they all fit perfectly.

Good luck, you will get it, just keep trying. It is quite cumbersome.

Thanks 4uall.

I will give it a shot (no pun intended). I was checking out some of your project photos on Flickr. Nice job!

I have a 4 and 7 yr old and wanted to add seat belt for the back seat. How did you set it up? My PO disconnected the original belts and added aftermarket waist belts for the front seats. I thought I could use the old seat belts for the kids. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The rear seat is easy to remove. Just lift up the front edge and it will slide up and out. Taking the rear seat back out is equally as simple. It is secured by two small screws along the lower edge of the seat. Just take those out and lift the seat back out.

I mounted rear seat belt anchors to the rear trunk bulkhead with over size washers. This was done to secure a dog crate -- not for actual people (although Hutch would take issue that he isn't a human person).

Thanks tartan18.

We have car harnesses for our two Westies. They are part of the family for sure, and will most likely get a ride in the spider.

You look to have had replies about how to post pics but nothing about the book / workshop Manual ?

I sounds like it is the Fiat (Import Parts America Fiat Division) workshop manual with a Pinninfarina front cover ? I bought the Fiat version (revised Sept 1990), not sure if same total number pages, as numbered in chapters only, but about 1&1/4" thick. Cost me $49.99 on ebay as a used copy and water stained. Got peeved to see one 6 months later for $9.99 so you just gotta look around.
Is a good general book and covers much better than other aftermarket ones like Haynes/ Gregory/ Auto-book/ Chilton etc but it was desighed as a Fiat 'service agent' manual and there are other books that specifically cover injection and electrics.
Mind you, it goes into enough detail to tell you how to rebuild the auto trans !

Only failure is that "some" of the pics are not that clear and if you got one photocopied off this issue, they could be bad. If you can get a Blue covered proper proper "Factory manual" they are brilliant, print & photo quality is A1, but aimed at people who know what they are doing, and are very rare.

Thanks for noticing. Don't know if this is the blue one you were talking about 124cso. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... true&rt=nc

I think I just missed out on it, but if this is a good one then I will keep looking for it.

No, not the one or type I was referring to. It does however look to be a loose bound version of the book I have, as the pages with those numbers are the same in my book as on their ebay listing. The pics do look to be o.k. there.

Now, is this where I upset someone or get kicked out of the group ? The name of that vendor rings bells with me. I will have to go back thru my old files to check to see if I am correct. I'll need a day or so to look.
I bought an owners' handbook for my car (the sort that came with new cars in the glove compartment), a few years back off ebay from someone trading with a similar name. A nice colour pic on ebay, paid too much and received a B&W xerox copy with each page showing the original book's binding next to the new spine but with about 3/8" inch missing from the outer edge of every page. Most of the pictures were just black squares.

Suffice to say, if I was wanting to buy that book, I would want an assurance that I was "buying the actual book that is shown in the auction listing pictures", then pay for it thru paypal or visa so you can stop payment if something else arrives.

Like you, I am not up on posting pics but will see about posting a pic of my "Factory" 500 manual, thru flickr

That is frustrating 124cso.

The vendor is Midwest Bayless, who seems to be a pretty reputable Italian auto parts provider. They state that it is a new printed (not a copy) with full color illustrations. But I would also like to see yours.

With regard to posting images, I've had luck with Photobucket. Set up an account, upload your photos, then copy the IMG link and paste it into your post. It worked for me. Just check the posts for the correct width of your image.

Thanks!

Here is the text I have been developing and copy/pasting for people here for a little while now regarding picture posting:

HOW TO POST PICTURES IN FIATSPIDER.COM

Well that picture-posting thing sure is confusing. Took me forever to figure it out. Here is what I do:

First, you must post your pictures on photobucket.com or one of the similar competing websites. You can't post pics directly from your computer. So set up a free account there first. The instructions here reference photobucket.com.

Then in your FS.com post, look for the "Img" box at the top of the post, #9 from the left in the row of command icons.

Put the cursor where you want the pic to appear in the post (leave a few spaces after text is a good idea) and click the "Img" button/icon above.

Then go to the photobucket.com site (or competitor) and find your pic. Hover the cursor over the pic and a drop down menu will appear. Then click the "Direct Link" or similar button. In Photobucket, it will respond with a "copied" indication.

Go back to your FS.com post and make sure the cursor is EXACTLY in between the 2 Img boxes: then right click and hit "paste" and the web link for the pic will show up in between the 2 img boxes. DON'T hit the IMG button a second time. MOVE your cursor out of the IMG info you just created before you hit enter.

Now when you post the post, the pic will be there!

Remember that if you delete the photobucket "master" pic, it will no longer appear in the posting here on FS.com

Also: there is a size limit to the pictures that can be displayed here, I think it is 750 pixels in width, someone correct me if I am wrong. So you may need to resize (typically downsize) the pics so that they fit properly and all of the pic is displayed and not cropped. What I do is really simple: I email the original picture to myself within AOL. AOL will automatically prompt you to see if you want the picture "optimized". Say "yes" and send this new pic to yourself. I then save it with a "small" addendum to the picture name and put this optimized picture up on photobucket. It works every single time like a charm.

Thanks Tartan! I also found an old post http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... =rear+belt with some additional pictures. Next step: check whether I'll have to drill holes or not :)

I've been back thru my records and see the bandits I bought off were "Mathewsparts" but recall they also used another name similar to the one above Midwest parts of something, that is what rung a bell. I'll try to hook in a pic of a factory book so here goes.-

Wow, it's easy out of photobucket, not so flickr
