79 Tail Lens removal / cleaning

Post by Landhawk »

How do you take apart a 79 tail lens? I have it removed from the car with gasket and circuit board removed. Trying to clean / repair them as best as possible since they are expensive to replace. Looks like the lens should come off, but I don't want to force it and further damage the tail lens. Did some searches , but didn't find anything (except people complaining about the replacement price  ) thanks.

I don't think they come apart. I used hot water and dishwasher soap and poured it in the bulb holes and let it sit for a hour or so and then rinsed out.A bottle brush helps as well. Dried really well and so far has been good.

Thanks for the follow up, I was thinking someone would tell me that.... Glad I didn't try to force the lenses off :)

Definately need to get a bottle brush, lots of debris in mine...
