Who has successfully install IAP's metal rocker panels?

Post by jimmycakes401 »

These rockers came with my car:

I've done a bit of searching and I know I've read a lot of folks didn't like the way they fit and returned them. Who hasn't sent them back? I'm trying to put them on the car, but it seems like the front of the rocker is a little too low. I'm thinking I need to cut away a little bit of metal or bend some in? i'm not sure. I've never seen an original installed, but it seems like the trim should go right up against the body, in which case my rocker needs to push right up against that. I'll try and take some pics at some point so you can see how it doesn't seem to be lining up.

I installed both sides on my Spider had had to remove a little metal at the front of the panels. I also had to do a little extra bending on the brackets.

Did the front hole end up lining up?

the front hole did not line up well so I ended up drilling my own. It was a bit of a hassle but they did look good once I got them properly positioned.

Had a feeling I'd have to redrill. No big deal. Thanks!

These are the plastic ones, and I'm very happy with them. They fit perfect. I did crack one, but it appears to be my fault because I had a bend in the trim piece and that cause the crack. Luckily I know a plastic welder.

Very nice, thanks for the pictures...Looks great! How difficult is it to remove the original panels?

Wasn't too bad, mine were rusted pretty bad so I had to soak the screws in WD40 for awhile but other then that, it was stupid things like the PO painting over screws.

I believe it was 3 under the rockers one bolt in the rear wheel well, one screw in the front and then mine had the sill plate you had to take off and then 2 or three screws under there.

What types of screws did you use? I plan to pick up something stainless. Not sure what though. Did they use washers on the underneath? Mine came missing, so I have no idea.
