Hood question

Post by ga.spyder »

I have a quick question re. the under side of hoods.I know they are different on the outside, but would a hoodliner template for a 71 fit the underside of a 82 big bump?Does anyone have a early and a late model that they could check this.We have a source(which Italchic shared with us,thank you) for hoodliners at an exceptional price. He has made a set for a 71,and has a template. If it wont work for the underside of my 82,I will make him a template for the late models.Let me know so I can get the ball rolling. Thanks,Craig

The hood liners mimic the shape of the top of the hood so they should be very different. The older hoods also don't have the hood prop mounted in the center of the hood either.

The liner should fit between the "ribs" of the underhood, so the 71 version might be a tad too short.

I wish I had a early hood to check. This liner fits into the hood recesses ,and doesnt attach like the late model stock liner(which covers the whole underside of the hood). The safe route is probably to make a template for him.

Good idea Craig. Then the rest of us can order them from him using the pattern from your template!
You're so thoughtful.

I got your back, buddy :D It does look like a good product, and I have Dynamat in my hood recesses. The worst part of making a template is going to be getting that stuff off the underside of the hood! I guess because the later cars had that liner that covers the whole underside, nobody seems to make any kind of replacement for it.
