Paint Code - Grigio fumo Met
Does anyone know what a current paint code/paint manufacturer would be for Grigio Fumo Met? The tag on the underside of my trunk lid says 899F, but I'm not sure what that means.

The color of your car is the same as mine. I've never seen another one, so that makes two of us. I got a small bottle of touch up paint from carpaintonline.com. It's their number 33399.

I guess I'm not aa exclusive as I thought. I wonder what the most common color is? I'm guessing red.

Re: Paint Code - Grigio fumo Met
Thanks for the tip on carpaintonline.com, Don. I ordered a 12 oz can of touch up spray last night which should take care of the problem.
Question, though, is how I should prepare the surface of the door lid before I spray it?

Can't help you there. All I know how to do is touch up little knicks with the built in brush under the cap.

Thanks, Keith. Is the "degrease" at Canadian Tire labeled as such - and in the auto paint department? Can I use rattle can primer - again, Cantire?

Re: Paint Code - Grigio fumo Met
Yes Bruce, cantire has an automotive degreaser. Some primers are better than others, they do sell an epoxy primer in a rattle can that seems great, im sure not as good as a 2 part system from the pro supply store (which is a great place for paint and advice if you have an autobody supply store in your community).
P.s. the degreaser takes forever and a day to evaporate, apply with one rag or a sprayer and then wipe clean with a different rag, also this stuff is nasty for any kids or pregnant women, i always make sure and at least use a respirator.
Looks like another beautiful top down day

Also, if I were you I'd shake the can real well; this is a metalic paint and I noticed all the little metal flakes had to be stirred up from where they setteld at the bottom of my little touch up bottle.

Re: Paint Code - Grigio fumo Met
you can spray the paint into a container and brush it on in small areas, like nicks/chips and cracks to seal it up
i use a baggie
theres no over spray this way
