I need a test drive

Post by noKYspider »

Okay, ya'll have made a great argument for the Spider over the Spitfire from what I read on my last thread. Check it out here http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=18316 That being said, I still haven't driven a Spider yet and I really want to drive one before committing myself to a lengthy trip to buy one. I've been checking Craigslist and eBay a few times a day but there's nothing locally for me to drive that's in what seems to be roadworthy condition. Any suggestions on how I can check one out in the Cincinnati area other than waiting patiently for one to go up for sale. Thanks for all the great comments and suggestions. I'm looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a Spider soon.

There are a few good ones that just poped up in the last few days, plus another that has been posted for a while.

Where in Northern KY are you? I grew up in Independence/Florence and still visit my parents there from time to time. I'll be there in a few weeks for memorial day.

Thanks for the replies gents. The first car literally went up about 5 minutes after I posted my question, I hadn't seen the second car before because they spelled it "Spyder" so I'll start searching on that too, and the third one isn't around anymore. I called about the third one on Thursday and the guy said it sold about a month ago to someone in Mississippi and he wasn't sure why the listing was still up. I'm going to call on the other two so hopefully I'll get to drive one before Monday. Thanks for all the help!

I needed to say thanks to Manoa Matt for pointing out the "Spyder" that was listed locally as that's the one I ended up buying. Without your suggestion I'd probably still be searching for something because I was only looking for the keyword "Spider" on CL. Just to refresh, below is a photo of it as it sat the first time I saw it in the warehouse (not running and with locked up brakes) and the second is a shot after I cleaned it up this weekend.

How about in person? I just arrived at my parents house tonight, and should be here until the 6th or 7th of June.

This was from my first post above:

And here are the details of my trip/vacation and how to contact me:

@noKYspider: What a great find for you. Do you mind if I ask how much you paid for it? I'm sitll in the process of looking for one and I'm trying to get as many details as possible on recently sold ones. Thanks.

I feel like I got a great deal on the cars. The green one is in good mechanical shape and there's very little rust under the car. There are some body issues with rust but I planned on repainting them anyway so that doesn't matter as much to me.
