Hi!
I think this will be the first post of a long series since I'm starting the restoration of a 1980 Spider 2000 FI, and I have sooo many questions!
First, can anyone help me to identify this mistery object?

I'm guessing is a temperature sensor since is wired to the radiator fan, but where does it mount? In my car is just dangling loose or "resting" on some hoses/wires.
Also, as rusted as it is, probably doesn't work anymore...any suggestion on a replacement?
Thanks a bunch!

Re: mistery sensor
That is odd. The proper sensor that is wired to the radiator fan installs by threading into the bottom left side of the radiator. It senses coolant temperature and closes the circuit to ground to turn on the fan around 195F. That may be an odd prior owner modification you have there? I have an '80 FI as well and don't recall anything like that in my car.

Re: mistery sensor
it looks for all the world like a capacitor. Or even like a condenser such as you;d find on your points. But what they'd have it wired to in that area is way past me.
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
