This is my 1980 Spider 2000 FI. It has about 69K miles. Only have owned it since November, so there is still a lot of sorting out to do. So far I have deswirled, buffed and waxed the exterior paint, put on a new top and tires, painted the wheels and mirrors, painted the steering wheel, veneered the center console as a start, sorted through the cooling system, lights and gauges (everything now works). Door panels have been refurbished in new color scheme, seats and carpets still need to be done, as well as the remainder of the dash veneer work. Also painted the front grilles "chrome" and centered the license plate. Man these cars are so addicting, and a blast to drive! I am really enjoying this so far!

Haha, I dunno, makes me nervous sometimes. It's always done that since I first saw it.

That i spretty cool. I suppose we could reposition the pinch point mechanism on the underside of the hood (move it towards the front somewhat) and that would do it. Almost every time I go under there I feel that it would be more convenient if the hood would open wider, past the vertical.

Ya it makes working in the engine bay easier, but makes me nervous sometimes that it will open too far.

my 78 had the small bumps on the hood

when i got it it had NO support and dents on the hood looked like it was frouning
i made a support out of a coat hangger. that worked, but a few times the wind pushed the hood and
undid the hook.so bigger dents

when i stripped a 80 i took as much as i could,
including the hood spring.
i had to open some holes ot fit it.

i think you guys should trade springs.

Update,
Here is how I first viewed my Spider.

Then awhile later once I had been driving it a bit and making repairs as needed.

And how it looks after a bit more cosmetic work and a wheel change along with general maintenance.
