Hello guys,
I am working on body of my 71 car these days, it is in pretty bad shape When we took off windshield frame, we have found some unreasonable space between windshield support and front fender (see picture).
Does anyone have picture, how is this detail orignaly been solved? Was there some cap or sealing, or anything?
Thanks in advance

Re: Space between front fender and windshield support ?
looking at your picture and comparing them to mine, the gap doesnt look unreasonable. what will tell you more is to bolt your windshield frame back in place and then look at the gap. there is no cover or rubber piece to fill that space. If the gap is big, how is the door fit to the windshield frame and the front fender. On mine, the gap is big enough to slide a piece of fine sandpaper in the gap. you want to look at wing frame and how it aligns with the windshield as well. solution may be as simple as shimming the windshield frame with a washer between the body and the frame

Once you put the windshield frame back in it will close up most of the gap. Fiat originally placed a non-hardening moldable filler material in there very similar to plumbers putty. Once you get it all back together install sealant or plumbers putty.

3M Strip-Calk 08578, black, works great in this application.
