79' hood

Post by roy »

Anyone have a suggestion on how to keep the corners of the hood from bouncing up and down? I tried adjusting the locking mechanism that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated, thx

are your corner pads in place. when the hood is closed, is the center flush with the cowling and the tips are high. If this is the case, you need to round the back of the hood. this can be done by puting a pillow, or a chunk of 4x6 wrapped in a towel. place this where the latch is, carefully drop the hood on top of it and push down gently on both corners at the same time. do this slowly and keep checking your progress.

Make sure your gaps are even on each side, or if it's like mine, make sure the gaps are straight the length of the hood. I just got some felt pads for like furniture and stuff and put them in place near the corners on the hood. This helped tremendously. Took my hood shake from roughly an inch down to less than a quarter inch. My understanding is, you can only fix it so well. It's going to move a little at high speeds.

My guess is that your hood end pads are either missing, or severely shrunk.

I don't have any pads on the corner of the hood, so that must be the cause. So now where does one get these pads?
